It was a happy time, a happy time
We squeegeed our third eyes and went outside
Went to the meadow down by the sea
We frolicked in the grass and swam in the creek
The sun was out and the weather was warm
We thought that nothing in the world could do us harm

But then the sky turned black
I started thinking I should be heading back
I got that voice and all I could here
Was that tricky little demon deep inside my ear

The date slipped away and time disappeared
Seconds turned to minutes, to hours, days to years
I see the golden age has risen and it's soon about to crash
Those left will huddle 'round the fire burning all their cash

I see past the crash and the death of the sun
Is there hope for the souls of everyone?
The future has been written in the past
We know nothing is lost but nothing lasts
Then outer space fades away
And everything cycles back to the day

So I zip back on my earth-suit, keep on walking on down the road
Heeding all the lessons that the little helpers show
Sometimes words get sticky when we give 'em all our energy
All we have to do now is be to be free

Maybe we got more than one life but there's no way to know
I'll try to survive in this one and stay inside the flow
Sometimes words get heavy when we let 'em through our door
